Magesi coach hails Uthongathi shot-stopper’s heroics saves

Magesi head coach Jacky Ledwaba was full of praises for Uthongathi goalkeeper Dumisani Msibi following his heroics saves as the KwaZulu-Natal side secured a 1-0 win over Dikwena Tsa Meetse in a Motsepe Foundation Championship clash on Sunday.

The Limpopo club could have bounced back in the game if it wasn’t for the magic hand of goalkeeper Msimbi.

LEDWABA ON MSIBI…

“Their goalkeeper was on top of the game,” Ledwaba told the club’s media department.

“For me, he was the Man of the Match given his great performance on the day.

“He managed to save many chances, close to nine corners. He was just feasting them making sure we don’t equalise.”

As a result, the second-tier league newcomers find themselves in the 12th position with seven points from six outings.

Meanwhile, Uthongathi climbed up the log standings to third place with 12 points after six games, just two points adrift from log leaders AmaTuks.

Reflecting on the game itself, he said: “There was nothing wrong with the game. Today’s match we were supposed to at least come back with a draw you know. A draw was going to be a fair result.

“They had only a few chances in the first half and they scored. If you can check in the second half we were on top of them. Keeping them in their own half for the whole 45 minutes.”

The ex-AmaZulu attacker noted that they will take positives from the game and go back to the drawing board to rectify their mistakes.

“The only thing going forward is that we must work on it to make sure that we convert our chances. In this league, if you leak goals they will punish you, and once they score one goal they close shops.”

Magesi will take on AmaTuks in their next league match on Wednesday, 12 October at Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane.

The kick-off is scheduled for 15:00.
