Maritzburg announce the arrival of Fadlu Davids
Maritzburg United have announced the arrival of Fadlu Davids, who takes over the coaching reins from the discarded John Maduka.
Davids rejoins Maritzburg for the second stint after being at the helm during the 2018/19 season.
He guided the club to the Nedbank Cup final, which they lost to Free State Stars. The former Orlando Pirates co-coach was recently in the books of Russian giants Lokomotiv Moscow.
FADLU DAVIDS EXPRESSES DELIGHT
Davids served as assistant coach to Jozef Zinnbauer, but the pair was abruptly fired after the run of poor form.
“Maritzburg United are delighted to announce the appointment of Fadlu Davids as the club’s new head coach,” read a statement.
“Davids rejoins the Team of Choice for his second stint at the helm. The club has moved swiftly to allow Davids an extended period in which he can work with the squad during the World Cup break,”
The 41-year-old tactician expressed his delight at being back in the dugout for the KZN-based outfit.
“I’m excited to be back here and having been here as a player, assistant coach and head coach,” Davids said.
“I understand the club quite well and will make it easy for my technical team and players to hit the ground running,” he added.
The club chairman Farook Kadodia hailed Davids as one of the greatest coaches in-game who can take Maritzburg to greater heights.
“Fadlu is one of the youngest, brightest coaches in the game, and we are pleased to have been able to bring him back to the club,” said Kadodia.
MEMORABLE MOMENTS
“We have achieved success together and had some memorable moments, and whilst the short-term objective is to get the team out of the current position.
“We look forward to creating and producing the brand of football which we as the club aspire to,” concluded Kadodia.
Maritzburg are currently rooted in the basement of the DStv Premiership log after 13 games played so far. They won two games, drew five and lost six times.
