Mohammed Kudus reflects to his five star performance in World Cup clash
Mohammed Kudus produced a Man of the Match performance when Ghana defeated South Korea in a World Cup group H clash at Education City Stadium on Monday afternoon.
The Ajax Amsterdam star, Kudus, scored a goal in each half as the Black Stars won 3-2. It was their first win of the campaign and temporarily takes them to second on the log.
Ghana took a 2-0 lead going into the half time break with goals by Kudu and defender Mohammed Salisu.
But the South Koreans came back with two quick second half goals by Cho Gue-sung, to make it an interesting finish.
But the 22-year-old, Kudus, showed his class as he slotted home the finish with 20 minutes remaining.
KUDUS MOMENT
“It’s a good feeling (to win the match,” he said after the match.
“We wanted the three points and we got them. Thank you God and the whole team, everyone was on top of their game today.
“They came back 2-2 and we had to come back with more energy and it happened,” said Kudus.
“I want to thank all my teammates first of all because it’s a collective game and they played a part in my performance.
ON FACING URUGUAY
“We are fully confident. We came in with the same mentality and the same energy and we are coming in with 100% now.”
A win for the Black Stars of Ghana against Uruguay will secure them a place in the last 16 round.
They will face off in the last Group H match at Al Janoub Stadium on Friday at 17:00.
GHANA SEEK REVENGE?
The decider against Uruguay will bring back memories of the 2010 World Cup encounter in South Africa.
The West Africans were on the verge of becoming the first African team to reach the semifinals of the World Cup.
Luiz Suarez deliberately saved a shot with his hands to prevent a goal that would have sent Ghana to the semis.
Asamoah Gyan missed the subsequent penalty and Ghana went on to lose on penalties.
