Monnapule Saleng reveals the real reason behind his fine form

Orlando Pirates winger Monnapule Saleng has divulged that his senior teammates are behind his electrifying fine form this season.

The 24-year-old footballer made headlines when helped the Buccaneers to be crowned the MTN8 champions, having scored three goals in the tournament.

Saleng gave credit to the experience of Pirates players, whom he revealed have been pushing him to work hard.

The talented playmaker spent the rest of the last season at Swallows and played a significant role in helping the Dube Birds to retain their DStv Premiership status.

He joined the Soweto giants in July 2021 from the now-defunct Free State Stars. Overall, Saleng has banged eight goals across all competitions for the Sea Robbers this season.

SALENG COMMEND SENIOR PLAYERS FOR HIS SUCCESS

“The way I’m playing currently is due to my hard work at training. I keep on pushing myself, and my teammates are always pushing me to work even harder,” Saleng told SAFA media officer Romy Titus.

“Also, being around experienced players has played an important role in regard to my current form.

Saleng went on to explain the way he is playing is exactly the way coach Jose Riveiro wants him to play.

“The way I’m playing right now is the way the coach wants me to play in the field of play. He wants me to use my speed as a winger to demolish our opponents,” he added.

He admitted that he truly feels that he is the man of the moment, as everyone is talking about him across the country.

“Obviously, now people are looking at me because I’m in the spotlight because I have been scoring goals after not playing,” Saleng further stated.

The ex-Orbit College star has set his sights on becoming a regular player for Bafana Bafana moving forward.

Hugo Broos’ charges will face Mozambique and Angola at Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga. The clash against the Mozambican side will be played on Thursday, 17 November, at 20:00. Bafana will then take on Angola on Sunday, 20 November, at 15:00.
