The iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal will play host to the 2022 MTN8 final, the Premier Soccer League (PSL) confirmed on Friday.
It will be the seventh time in 10 years that the 2010 FIFA World Cup venue hosts the MTN8 final.
The Moses Mabhida Stadium has also staged the last two MTN8 finals between Sundowns and Cape Town in 2021, Bloem Celtic and Pirates in 2020.
Before this the MTN8 final was hosted by Orlando Stadium in 2019 between Highlands Park and SuperSport United.
The other venues to host the top eight competition final since it was renamed the MTN8 include Mbombela Stadium, Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium and Orlando Stadium.
Moses Mabhida, a 55 000-seater, is home to several teams in the DStv Premiership, including Chiefs and AmaZulu.
THE LAST FOUR TEAMS
Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates, AmaZulu and defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns are the last four teams set to fight it out in the semifinal over two legs.
Ironically, Amakhosi, Sundowns, and Pirates have all won the MTN8 title at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
Pirates will host Sundowns in the first leg at Orlando Stadium on Saturday, while AmaZulu will travel to Soweto to tackle Chiefs on Sunday at FNB Stadium.
The second leg encounters will then take place later in October, with Sundowns playing host to Pirates on Saturday, 22 October, at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
On Sunday, 23 October, Chiefs will be away to AmaZulu at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.
In a statement, the PSL said: “The iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal will host 2022/23 MTN8 final on Saturday, 05 November 2022.
“The PSL will confirm the kick-off time, ticketing information, and other match logistics in due course.”
