TS Galaxy forward Bernard Parker is expecting a warm welcome when he comes up against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday.
Parker will face Chiefs for the first time since his departure at the end of the season. The 36-year-old spent 11 years at Amakhosi before his move to the Mpumalanga side.
PARKER ON FACING CHIEFS
“I hope that I will receive a warm reception. I hope to get a positive reception because of what I have done there,” said Parker.
“I have done a lot there in the past 11 years. So I am anticipating a welcome feeling.”
“The feeling hasn’t sunk in yet. I am sure it will sink in when I step foot at the FNB Stadium. It’s a first time feeling so I don’t know how to describe it. I don’t know how I will be on the day but I am looking forward to it.
“I wouldn’t say anxious or nervous. It is a good feeling that I am feeling already. To play against my ex-team would be more of a feeling that triggers emotions,” added Parker
LEAGUE POSITION CONCERN
Galaxy are currently 11th in the DStv Premiership after 11 matches. They are winless in their last seven matches with four draws and three defeats.
“Going into the World Cup break, as we stand now we are okay. Two wins will take us to a good position, as you can see how the league is. If you win two or three games in a row it’s game on,” he said.
“So it would be good for us to go into the World cup break confidently with a six-pointer starting this Wednesday.”
Galaxy have scored the least number of goals their season with only three despite having experienced campaigners such as Parker and Sibusiso Vilakazi.
They have also conceded the second least number of goals (4). Richards Bay have the best defensive record with only 3 goals conceded.
The League encounter will kick off at 19:30 at FNB Stadium.
