Pirates’ Ncikazi: We know where we have to improve

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has highlighted the one crucial area the Soweto giants worked hard on at practice ahead of their next assignment against TS Galaxy in Soweto on Saturday.

Ncikazi revealed that Pirates focused on improving their offensive game as they have been struggling for goals in recent matches.

In seven DStv Premiership games, Pirates have only managed to score four goals, which is a concern coach Jose Riveiro has been trying to address with the help of Ncikazi.

“There are a lot of actions that we had to improve in our team from the previous match,” said Ncikazi as Pirates head into the Galaxy clash following a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Maritzburg United in KwaZulu-Natal last weekend.

CAN GALAXY STUN BUCS AT ORLANDO?

The Soweto giants come up against the Rockets, who have only conceded a single goal in six matches. And Galaxy have the upper hand in this fixture, having won two of the last three league games.

However, Galaxy are yet to beat Pirates at Orlando Stadium, and their last visit to the venue resulted in a 2-0 win for Bucs in December.

“At least we had the opportunity to work for a week, and we tried to improve a lot of actions in our offensive game [ahead of the TS Galaxy game] as we want to create as many chances as we can,” added Ncikazi.

“If we do, we will score; we know where we have to improve but against Galaxy, a very difficult opponent, but if we do our actions correctly, sustain and maintain them, we are going to get a positive result at Orlando.

The Galaxy encounter at Orlando Stadium (17:30) is a welcome return home for Pirates as they played back-to-back weekends on the road.

A win for the hosts will see them move to the summit of the log if the other results go their way in early stages of the title race.
