PITSO MOSIMANE SOCCER SCHOOLS PARTNERSHIP

The Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools has formed a partnership with Curro Northern Academy in Polokwane and Curro Meridian Cosmo City in Roodepoort, Gauteng.

“As you would see, the logo of Pitso Mosimane Soccer Schools is ‘creating a player of tomorrow’, ” said Moira Tlhagale, executive director of the PMSS.

“A player of tomorrow that we want to create is a player that is balanced from an education point of view, socially and technical in Soccer.

“That is what we want to create and our starting point is to create a very young child focusing on the technique. So that by the time they are 13 or 14 they have mastered the ball,” she said.

“From there we will make sure that they understand the technical and tactical point of Soccer.”

Mosimane, who is now with the Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli Jeddah Al-Ahli Jeddah, launched the training programme earlier this year.

It is aimed at helping boost the quality and ability of South Africa’s football talent. This is after the decline in FIFA ranking, dropping from 20th in 2000 to 68th in 2022.

The Curro independent school group says they have already agreed to comply with the high standards prescribed by PMSS.

They have outlined ambitious plans to upgrade its football fields, purchase training equipment and renovate its boarding facilities in order to accommodate a professional football academy.
