Polokwane City coach Duncan Lechesa describes Motsepe Championship race as war
Polokwane City coach Duncan Lechesa has described the Motsepe Foundation Championship as ‘a war’ after his troops got back to winning ways when they defeated Platinum City Rovers 3-1 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Wednesday.
Rise and Shine had failed to win their two previous League matches with draws against Uthongathi and Baroka.
The win takes them back to top of the log after being temporarily leapfrogged by Casric Stars on Tuesday.
“It’s war because if you can see all the teams that are playing with us are fighting,” head coach Duncan Lechesa told the media after the match.
POLOKWANE CITY READY FOR BATTLE
“We have put ourselves in that position and we need to maintain it. We need to be physically and mentally strong. But I think today we wanted to win the game and we should have grabbed it in the first half.
“We should have scored at least four or five goals. We will need those goals when the time goes but congratulations to the boys. They fought hard and we have another tough derby against Baroka coming,” he said.
“We will go out in Lebowakgomo to get the three points. If it’s not happening we will sneak a point but we want all the maximum points. It is still early. We have not finished the first round but we will go out and fight for all the results.”
The next match for the log leaders is a Limpopo derby against Baroka FC at the Global Village In Lebowakgomo on Saturday. Baroka come from a disappointing 1-0 defeat by JDR Stars on Tuesday.
