PSL release Motsepe Foundation draft fixtures

The PSL has sent all 16 Motsepe Foundation Championship teams draft fixtures 25 days before the 2022/23 kicks-off.

The league is expected to start on Friday, 2 September, until Saturday, 14 May 2022. Besides the two promoted teams, MM Platinum from Gauteng and Magesi from Limpopo, there is also a new kid on the block.

Casric Stars have now entered the fray after purchasing the status of Free State Stars. Stars were relegated from the Premiership to the first division at the end of the 2018/19 season.

They status has now been sold to Mpumalanga-based businessman Bucks Mthombeni. Mthombeni is originally from Giyani in Limpopo.

FARPost has gathered that the club will play their home matches at Solomon Mahlangu Stadium in KwaMhlanga, Mpumalanga. The Giyani Stadium in Limpopo is also set to be utilised as their alternative venue.

According to a draft fixture released on Monday, MM Platinum will take on JDR Stars in the opening match of the season at Wits Stadium.

Platinum City Rovers and All Stars (formerly Cape Town All Stars) will also take on each other on the same day, Friday, 2 September, at Olen Park Stadium.

Saturday, 3 September, will see Black Leopards v Hungry Lions at Thohoyandou Stadium, Magesi FC v Venda Football Academy at Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Pretoria Callies v Cape Town Spurs at Lucas Moripe Stadium and University of Pretoria v Polokwane City at Tuks Stadium.

On Sunday, 4 September, Baroka will host Uthongathi at the newly opened Baroka Global Village, and Casric Stars will take on Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila at a venue yet to be confirmed.

AmaTuks missed out on promotion to the PSL after losing to Swallows in the promotional play-offs and will be hoping to get it right this time around.
