Romain Folz addresses Makhahleni Makhaula’s absence
AmaZulu FC head coach Romain Folz has explained why the club’s captain Makhehleni Makhaula was nowhere to be seen in their previous two games.
Usuthu skipper was last seen on the field when they downed Kaizer Chiefs 4-0 earlier this month.
He was forced off before half-time and was replaced by Tercious Malepe.
The 33-year-old midfielder didn’t feature when his side drew 1-1 with Marumo Gallants in the midweek. He was also not part of the team that played a one-all stalemate with Richards Bay FC on Sunday.
Folz revealed that Makhaula wasn’t fit for the last two fixtures. However, he was confident that the former Highlands Park man would return soon.

“So he was supposed to be there last time, but he went into some sprint to check his injury, and he was still feeling it,” he told the media.
“He has less pain now, so we should expect him to be back anytime soon.”
Initially, the absence of Makhaula prompted questions about whether he’ll don the Usuthu shirt again.
This is after he’s understood to have signed a pre-contract with Orlando Pirates, as reported by this publication.
It should be recalled that when Siyethemba Sithebe signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs, was banned from playing for the club.
However, the club’s management said that was because Amakhosi had begun talks with the player before he entered his last six months of the contract with the club.
WILL MAKHAULA FEATURE SOON?
Now, it remains to be seen whether a hard tackler will be available in the upcoming matches of Folz’s troops.
AmaZulu will take on the relegation-threatened Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership on Friday. The match will take place at the Harry Gwala Stadium, with kick-off set for 19:30.
