Romain Folz explains what needs to change at Marumo

Marumo Gallants head coach Romain Folz has expressed his frustration following another disappointing result in the DStv Premiership, and he has pointed out what needs to change at the club.

Gallants are now bottom of the DStv Premiership log after their 1-0 defeat by Orlando Pirates on Wednesday night. They are the only club yet to win a match after five rounds of games.

With four draws and one defeat in their opening DStv Premiership matches, coach Folz couldn’t hold back and insisted they needed to wake up and change their situation.

“I think we can only blame ourselves for the outcome of the game. Conceding a goal after three minutes, you put yourself in a difficult situation from the get-go,” said Folz.

“Yes, as many people have told me, we were a better team, and I strongly believe that, but it’s not enough. As I told the boys just now, I am tired of being a team that is playing well, but at the end of the day, we don’t get the maximum points.

“So, I think it’s time that we all stand up and wake up understanding that it needs to change. Yes, we know we can play. Yes, we know we can come to Pirates at their ground and outplay them.

“We know we can do that, but at the end of the day is not enough. We need to match that with the desire and ambition of being much more impactful going forward into having results,” he added.

“I know we have that in us. We can do it. It needs to happen now. Otherwise, it will be a problem. It needs to happen in the next game, and that will be the objective.”

Gallants will now have a 10-day break before their next league match, which is a home encounter against Swallows. DStv Premiership action will be on pause this weekend due to the MTN 8 quarterfinal action.
