Romain Folz makes fresh demand on AmaZulu after Chiefs win
Following the massive drubbing of Kaizer Chiefs on Friday night, Amazulu coach Romain Folz says he is not resting on his laurels.
Amazulu recorded arguably their best result of the season so far with a convincing 4-0 win over Amakhosi courtesy of goals by former Amakhosi duo of Dumisani Zuma and Ramahlwe Mphahlele.
Junior Dion and Bongi Ntuli scored the other two goals. Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder George Maluleka was so influential that he provided two assists.
ROMAIN FOLZ FRESH DEMAND
And for Folz, that impressive performance is an indication that Usuthu can dare to beat any team in the DStv Premier League.
But only if they are able to remain consistent for the remainder of the season.
“As much as we are happy now. I will be happy if we are capable of doing performances like that back to back.
“We are going to celebrate with our fans, but there is a long way to go. We step into the second round in the best way possible but hear me when I say we are still not happy with the ranking where we are at the moment,” Folz told SuperSport TV.
Against Chiefs, the French coach said they struck the right chords in terms of the tactical approach and maintaining endurance until the final whistle.
Folz added: “It’s not enough in terms of consistency. We need this week in and week out. We made a few twists tactically.
“I think we can say our approach was different. It worked. I think there are moments we can be a little bit stronger.
CREDIT TO FITNESS TEAM
“The tactical approach was correct. The level of effort was incredibly high today. I give credit to my fitness team. It’s a good performance. I’m not taking anything away from it but let’s do it as much as we can.”
The Durban side handed Kaizer Chiefs their sixth defeat of the season in 16 league matches.
Usuthu are on fifth place on the log standings with 21 points, exactly 19 points behind pacesetters Mamelodi Sundowns.
