Rulani Mokwena names TS Galaxy’s players that can hurt Downs

Mamelodi Sundowns co-coach Rulani Mokwena has named four TS Galaxy players who could hurt them when the two teams meet on Wednesday in a DStv Premiership encounter.

He believes The Rockets are “a strong and quality side” and pointed out their attacking speed, the brilliance of Given Msimango and the experience of Lindokuhle Mbatha, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Xola Mlambo as their major threats.

Masandawana will welcome the Rockets at the Loftus Versfeld this evening (19:30) as they look to maintain their fine form to the start of the season.

Mokwena is a big admirer of Sead Ramovic’s work at the Mpumalanga-based outfit since he took over the coaching reigns from Owen Da Gama in the last campaign and picked out the biggest challenges in facing them.

“Look, I think the TS Galaxy story is a continuation from last season. They haven’t made too many changes from the last term to their squad. Ramovic is now in his second season with the club, and he’s working with a team that he’s familiar with,” Mokwena told the media.

“Their organisation form is still the same as the last season’s one and clear playing style that looks for possibilities to build from the back and play through while looking to dominate position.  It is encouraging to see that they are brave as they continued that against AmaZulu when they played relatively very well.”

The 35-year-old mentor respects Galaxy for their quality and believes that the side possesses enough talents to cause upsets for Bafana Ba Style.

“They still got the experience of Lindokuhle Mbatha, Sibusiso Vilakazi and Xola Mlambo in the midfield to give them a little bit of stability. Msimango, who missed huge of last season, is looking strong, fit and back to his best,” he added.

However, the Brazilians will look to take a commanding display at Cape Town City into this game and look to dominate the middle of the park as they are aware that the Rockets are fast on the counter-attack, and the defending champions will be keen to look after the ball and don’t give away possession cheaply.

“It’s a quality side, and we know that we have to play exceptionally well but also with possibilities of making sure that we dominate the game and we put our best performance with a lot of aggression and energy because that’s also what they put on the pitch,” Mokwena explained.
