Sekhukhune captain Linda Mntambo unfazed by busy schedule
Sekhukhune United captain Linda Mntambo insists it’s nothing new for them to find themselves involved in too many back-to-back matches in the league.
Sekhukhune will resume their DStv Premiership programme with a home encounter against AmaZulu on 31 December.
After that, the Limpopo-based side will play five matches in a space of a month, meaning they would have played six games in 29 days.
However, former Orlando Pirates midfielder Mntambo says the busy schedule is nothing new to Sekhukhune and it’s something they are well prepared for.
“It’s nothing new, we are ready to handle the back-to-back games that are coming in January,” said Mntambo.
“If you look at how the season started we were playing back to back every second day so it’s nothing new.
LINDA MNTAMBO ON THE CLUB’S PREPARATIONS
“It’s something that we are used to and now during the FIFA World Cup break, we have been playing a lot of friendly matches,” he added.
“Just to check how far we are in terms of fitness with the new coach Brandon Truter. So we are also getting to know his style of play in his game model.
“I think we are almost there. Almost ready to kick off the first game against AmaZulu,” declared Mntambo.
BRANDON TRUTER FIRST MATCH
Newly appointed mentor Brandon Truter will take charge of his first official match for the club against Usuthu.
Truter was appointed by Babina Noko to take over from Kaitano Tembo after a string of poor results.
Sekhukhune are surprisingly languishing second from the bottom of the DStv Premiership. This is despite their huge investment in terms of playing personnel this season.
The club have brought in seasoned campaigners such as Daniel Cardoso, Victor Letsoalo, Mntambo, Sammy Seabi and Tshegofatso Mabasa.
The club continues to make signings and recently acquired the services of Mzwanele Mahashe and Philani Zulu.
