South African coach likens Zimbabwean starlet to Khama Billiat

South African coach Morena Ramoreboli is buzzing with excitement about his Zimbabwean star at Jwaneng Galaxy Daniel Msendami, likening him to Khama Billiat.

Ramoreboli’s Botswana side Galaxy signed Msendami on loan from Highlanders at the start of the season. The Free State-born coach believes the rookie winger possesses unique skills like those of Kaizer Chiefs star attacker Billiat.

Ramoreboli reckons the winger could easily be a cut above the rest if he remains disciplined and focused.

LIKENED TO KHAMA BILLIAT

Highlanders gave Galaxy an option to buy the player permanently if they are impressed by him during the loan stint.

And Ramoreboli told FARPost that the 22-year-old is a rare breed. He described him as the kind of player every coach wants to have in his team.

“To be honest, he is a very good player, still young, very arrogant, skilful with the ball, confident, and he is one player whom I believe, if he remains focused, can be the next Khama Billiat.

“He is very intelligent and technically sound, so these are players any coach would want to have in his team,” he said.

Msendami has scored eight goals and registered six assists in 18 games this season.

PROMOTE JUNIOR PLAYERS

In Zimbabwe, Highlanders are among the teams that have done well to promote junior players from their developmental team, Bosso 90, competing in the Southern Region Division One.

They recently plucked 17-year-old Prince Ndlovu from the developmental team as they slowly revive their roots of using homegrown talent. Ndlovu was at Orlando Pirates for trials recently.

FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum have also heavily invested in Under-19 teams that are currently competing in the Central and Northern Region Division One league, respectively.

Last season, FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum promoted at least four players apiece from their developmental ranks to their senior teams competing in the Premier Soccer League.
