SuperSport receive Gamphani Lungu boost ahead of Galaxy clash
SuperSport United have received a boost ahead of Sunday’s afternoon DStv Premiership game against TS Galaxy at Mbombela Stadium following the return from suspension of versatile Gamphani Lungu.
The Zambian international missed the opening two league games for Matsatsantsa due to suspension among other reasons.
The utility player was conspicuously absent when SuperSport started the campaign with a 1-1 draw against Chippa United before losing 2-1 to AmaZulu midweek.
Lungu has since given his assessment of the team’s start to the season, saying there was remarkable progress in the two games.
“I think our first game was better because we had a lot of attempts which is a good sign because it showed that we are getting into the right areas. The only crucial thing is that we need to finish off those attacks. Because it was the first game, we all expected a slow start but creating so many chances is a positive,” he said.
Reflecting on the loss to AmaZulu after SuperSport had gone in front, Lungu faulted the loss to concentration issues.
“I think it was just a lapse of concentration and we panicked a bit too much. It also comes back to what I said about the first game where we had chances and not burying them,” he said.
The game against Galaxy promises to be a cracker as the Rockets are coming from a morale boosting 1-0 win in over holders Mamelodi Sundowns.
Lungu has since described the game against Galaxy as crucial in SuperSport’s quest for first maximum points of the season.
“The next game is very critical, TS Galaxy got a win of the champions which is a big boost for them and for us it has to be a wakeup call, we need to go into the next game knowing what we need to do and utilizing each chance as it comes. And to the team I want to say that we just need to keep our heads up. It’s a long season we still have a long way to go and I know we’re going to do the most,” Lungu said.
