SuperSport United’s all-time goalscorer gives advice to youngsters
SuperSport United all-time top scorer Bradley Grobler has shared some words of advice to South African football youngsters after banging his 100th PSL goal.
Grobler, who is in the race for the South African football top-flight Golden Boot race this season, insists that the youngsters should learn to listen to their coaches and senior players to become better players.
However, the 35-year-old frontman reckons that his goal haul for Matsatsantsa should motivate DStv Premiership teams to put their faith in their youth.
And on the evening that he scored his 100th PSL goal in their 2-0 victory against Maritzburg United, the veteran forward offered some advice for youngsters coming through the system.
BRADLEY GROBLER’S ADVICE TO YOUNGSTERS
“Look, I think we are going through an era where football and life are changing. The youth of now is not like the youth that used to be,” Grobler told the media.
“There are a lot of things involved in their life now. For me, just listen to all of the players that have been through difficult times. The reason is that football in South Africa is up and down very quickly.
“You have seen over the years how many guys who have done extremely well in their first and second seasons disappear.
“Over the years, I have tried to help youngsters as much as I can. There are some of the guys who have listened and have gone to do big things. And some who haven’t listened didn’t make it.”
The ex-Bafana Bafana international continued: “For me, the first thing is to listen to the people who are there to help you.
“And the football side of things will come alright. As long as you listen to the coaches and your senior players.”
Now, the former Platinum Stars man has set sights on winning the DStv Premiership top goalscorer.
As things stand, Grobler is level on goals [nine goals] with Mamelodi Sundowns’ lethal striker, Peter Shalulile.
