Tembo eyeing a top-eight finish at Sekhukhune

Newly appointed Sekhukhune United coach Kaitano Tembo says his first objective at the club will be finishing in the top eight heading into the new season.

Babina Noko did well in their first season in the DStv Premiership, finishing 11th. However, Tembo is aiming higher and at improving the team.

“We want to do better than the previous season; the club has done well, coming from promotion, winning NFD and finishing 11th in the past season. We want to do better than that and break into the top eight; that’s the huge objective,” said Tembo.

“That’s what we have, the ambitions, with the attitude that I’ve seen, in terms of work ethic, I feel like we got everything to fight and get us into the top eight, that will be our challenge going into the new season.

“We’ll expect a team that plays effective football; I’m talking about playing entertaining football, getting results, high pressing. That’s my philosophy. I want to take charge; I don’t want to sit and wait for things to happen. That’s one thing I will try and instil in players’ minds as well as hard-working, good working ethic and discipline with a lot of balance.

“I feel like I’m at a place where there are many ambitions to do better; it’s a very young club. I want to be part of it; I want to be part of the growth of the club. I think that’s encouraging for me; that’s one thing I thought about coming here and make a huge difference in the team.

The former SuperSport United coach then sent a message to the Sekhukhune faithful, hoping they would carry on rallying behind the team like always.

“To the supporters, the team need their support like they have been doing in the previous seasons; supporters are significant and key because the game belongs to them. We will need their support going into the new season to reach our goals; they need to get behind the team like they have been doing.”
