The reason why Banyana star Ode Fulutudilu joined Real Betis
As previously reported by FARPost, Real Betis have signed Banyana Banyana international Ode Fulutudilu, and she has explained why she decided to join the Spanish side.
The South African striker has penned a deal until June 30, 2023. Fulutudilu moves to Betis after terminating her deal with the French side FC Fleury 91.
She leaves the team that currently occupies the fourth position in the French league. Fulutudilu played 10 games for Fleury and contributed one goal in the process.
The well-travelled goalscorer had joined Fleury on a one-year contract after cutting ties with the Scottish side, Glasgow City in July last year.
WHY ODE FULUTUDILU DECIDED TO JOIN REAL BETIS
Fulutudilu put on record that she took this decision to join the top-tier Spanish side because she saw it as an opportunity to play more.
And to add to that, to put herself in a better fighting position for the national team [Banyana Banyana].
“This was an offer I couldn’t resist,” she told FARPost.
“I believe that this move will give me more playing time and hopefully increase the chances of me being selected for the FIFA Women’s World Cup for Banyana.
“These are the things I had to take into all considering before parting ways with my previous team.”
Betis describes the goalscorer as a player who is “characterised by the handling of both legs and being fast into space.”
The Spanish side believes that Fulutudilu’s extensive experience will help the side to reach the promised land, having debuted for Banyana in 2014 and participated in the 2019 FIFA World Cup.
She also had spells at Lee Flames, Oulu Nice Soccer, Malanga and Aland United in Europe.
Whereas in South Africa, she played for the likes of Lolvido Rapids, Spurs Ladies, and Cape Town Angels, among others.
