Three things Pirates striker Zakhele Lepasa wants to achieve in his career
Orlando Pirates and Bafana Bafana striker Zakhele Lepasa has revealed three important things he wants to achieve in his career.
The 25-year-old has been unlucky when it comes to injury setbacks in recent years. However, right now, Lepasa seems to be on the right track, with his fitness levels on par.
At club level, Lepasa has been putting in decent performances for Pirates with a goal and an assist in 12 games across all competitions.
Lepasa’s hard work at the Soweto giants has been noted by Bafana coach Hugo Broos, who selected the striker to represent the national team for the past four friendly matches.
The Soweto-born forward, Lepasa scored his first international game when Bafana were held to a 1-all draw by Angola at Mbombela Stadium most recently.
Lepasa, who is eager to leave a mark on South African football, has big ambitions.
PLAY ABROAD
“For me it would mean a lot if I go abroad, but not just go abroad. Go abroad, go to a big team it doesn’t matter which country even if it’s in Europe if I’m lucky or countries like China and Qatar,” Lepasa told FARPost.
CREATE A NAME FOR HIMSELF
“Have a name for myself, do something special with the national team. I think in terms of the national team, sometimes you don’t have to be a regular like everyone else,” he added.
“You look at players such as [Sipho] Mbule and [Teboho] Mokwena; they are already establishing themselves as regulars in the national team, but sometimes it happens you get a few years there, and you actually do something special.”
ACHIEVE BIG WITH BAFANA BAFANA
“I want to achieve something great with the national team, maybe reach the final of the AFCON [Africa Cup of Nations] if not win it, qualify for the next World Cup besides Qatar.
“Maybe be involved in the Olympics because it’s something that I missed [due to injury], it’s something that I still want,” concluded Lepasa.
Lepasa is expected to be in action for Bafana Bafana in March next year when they face Liberia in back-to-back matches for the AFCON qualifiers.
