Timm’s bold promise to Irvin Khoza when he joined Pirates

Orlando Pirates midfielder Miguel Timm has revealed the bold promise he made to chairman Irvin Khoza when he joined the club.

Timm joined Pirates from Marumo Gallants during the pre-season on a free transfer.

TIMM A REVELATION FOR PIRATES

He has been a revelation for the Buccaneers, becoming a vital cog in the Soweto giants’ engine room.

On Saturday, he was named man-of-the-match after helping Pirates win MTN8 Cup 1-0 over AmaZulu in Durban.

A teary Timm revealed the utmost promise he made to the revered Pirates chairman, Khoza.

“I know people doubted me when I came here, and the chairman needed to know why I wanted to come here.

“And I wasn’t scared to say it: ‘I want to compete for every trophy on offer’.

“This is the fruit of hard work and belief. We’re going to fight for more and more and more,” Timm told SuperSport TV in a post-match interview.

He said it was important to win a trophy ahead of the lengthy break meant to pave the way for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.

“It was important to get this trophy. We are going into a long break. It wasn’t going to sit well with us to wait a month and a half to play another game.”

DERBY LOSS

Timm missed last week’s derby against Kaizer Chiefs, which his team lost 1-0. He stressed it was “not hard” to bounce back after a derby loss.

“Because of our hard work and belief, it’s not hard to come from a derby loss.”

He admitted the win over AmaZulu was not the prettiest, as they held on in the second half to defend their slender lead.

Usuthu were the better side in the second half as they sought an equaliser.

A well-taken Monnapule Saleng free kick in the 25th minute was enough to hand the Buccaneers victory.
