TP Mazembe arrive with strong squad for Royal AM clash

TP Mazembe coach Pamphile Mihayo has arrived in South Africa with a strong 25-member party for Wednesday’s clash against Royal AM.

The Congolese giants arrived in Durban on Monday carrying a 2-0 advantage going into the CAF Confederation Cup second round, second leg match.

Ernest Luzolo and Rainford Kabala, scorers in the first-leg win on Sunday, are notable inclusions in the squad.

SETTLING IN DURBAN

Mazembe have since detailed how they have settled in the coastal city ahead of match.

“The day started with a big tactical session in Kamalondo early in the morning,” the club’s website reads.

“Then they regrouped at noon at the Luano International Airport to take off at 1:50pm heading to Durban via Johannesburg.

“And finally, it was around 9:30 pm that the entire delegation (36 people including 25 players) arrived in KwaZulu-Natal on the Indian Ocean coast.”

Mihayo earlier said he was expecting Royal AM’s onslaught in the reverse fixture.

Mihayo described Royal AM as an adventurous bunch capable of hurting the visitors.

“They are a lively and enterprising team. We are preparing to battle hard in Durban with a precise game-plan,” he told Mazembe website.

The coach said finishing was the difference between his team and the Durban-based opposition in the first leg.

“They had the ball and got the chances. The opposing team did not not succeed and we seized the opportunity to make the difference,” Mihayo added.

The winner between Royal AM and Mazembe will advance to the round-of-16 of the second-tier continental competition.
