Truter backs Bafana Bafana, gives update on Mokotjo
Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has backed Bafana Bafana to do well in the upcoming AFCON qualifiers while also issuing an update on Kamohelo Mokotjo.
Bafana will take on Liberia in back-to-back qualifiers on 28 March. They currently sit second in Group K after the defeat to Morocco in the first match.
BRANDON TRUTER BACKS BAFANA BAFANA TO DO WELL
Although none of his players made the preliminary squad announced by Hugo Broos on Tuesday, Truter maintains he is fully behind the team.
“I don’t want to comment too much on the national team selection criteria. I am positive that we might have a tactical plan to go and be successful in qualifying for this competition,” said Truter on Wednesday.
“So we have to be mindful of his selection and plan. So all I can say at this moment is I am sure the players he selected are for the plan or tactics that he will use against Liberia.
“But on a further note, I wish him all the best because it has been a while since we have been involved in the Africa Cup of Nations. So I wish him all the best; I wish and pray that he has the right selection for this game.”
KAMOHELO MOKOTJO GETTING CLOSER TO FITNESS
Truter also issued an update on the progress of Kamohelo Mokotjo since he joined the club. Mokotjo has struggled to break into the starting lineup and came in as a substitute in a few matches.
“Kamo is very close to starting. I have to say Kamo brings a whole new dimension to the team but taking into consideration his long layoff. The injury setbacks before he returned, but also he made a start against Gallants.
“After speaking to him after the game, he did note that the style of play is much quicker in domestic football. So he has been involved in several training matches. He has adapted well, and hopefully, we will see him sooner rather than later.”
