TS Galaxy goalie lauded after Bafana call-up
In-form TS Galaxy goalkeeper Melusi Buthelezi has been showered with praises after receiving his first Bafana Bafana call-up.
Buthelezi has been named in the Hugo Broos’ 23-men squad to play in two friendlies against Sierra Leone and Botswana on the 24th and 27th of September at FNB Stadium in Soweto.
Despite conceding a howler against Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership clash, the 24-year old shot stopper has been impressive for the Rockets, keeping five consecutive clean sheets this season.
Galaxy head coach Sead Ramovic recently backed his keeper to be considered in the national team.
The former Jomo Cosmos star has now received high praises from his goalkeeper Greg Etafia.
“We have to thank God as a team, as TS Galaxy we are fortunate enough to get the player to the national team,” Etafia told the club media.
“For me I’m just so proud and overwhelmed, knowing his story and looking at where he’s coming from, to be a fourth goalkeeper for three seasons and never play even friendly games.
“And for him to now go to Bafana Bafana is something that we need to give glory to God and also we need to thank the team[TS Galaxy] for having faith in him and keeping him around.
“I always knew that he had something in him the very first day I joined TS Galaxy, he’s the young blood that want to work everyday and I’m so grateful that God used me to help him in that aspect,” added the former Swallows goalkeeper.
The Mpumalanga-based side have had an impressive start to the 2022/23 campaign which saw them go on a five game unbeaten run without conceding a single goal.
Ramovic’s charges have seen a dip of form and lost their last two games in the league against Cape Town City and most recently going down 2-0 against the Buccaneers.
Tim Sukazi-owned club will be looking to bounce back to winning ways when they face the PSL newbies Richards Bay on Sunday at King Zwelithini Stadium.
