TTM coach slams referee for Limpopo derby loss

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila [TTM] assistant coach Ricardo Miriri has slammed the referee for Vhadau Vha Damani’s 2-1 defeat to arch-rivals Polokwane City in a Motsepe Foundation Championship clash at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium on Monday.

Miriri was not happy with the late second goal of the Rise and Shine and reckons that it “was offside.”

The coach went on to say that his side were dominant despite the disappointing result.

A brace from Stevens Goovadia was enough to earn City all the valuable three points at home, whereas Eden Nene scored the consolation goal for the visitors.

MERIRI ON THE MATCH OFFICIAL…

“I cannot say much about the officiating of the game. I don’t think the referee was in his top game,” Miriri told FARPost after the game.

“For me, I think the second goal was offside.

“However, I will just give him [the match official] the benefit of the doubt and go back to check the replay.

“But I can’t fault the boys because they tried their level best despite the poor officiating. We will soldier on and try to get a win when we play Pretoria Callies in our next game.”

Reflecting on the match, the coach reveals how they tried to change their formation [tactics] to outsmart their opponents.

“I don’t think today was our day. We started during the first half as we tried to control the ball though our opponents were good in the first half,” he added.

“During half-time, we tried to motivate the guys and changed our tactics from 4-4-2 to 3-5-2, but the opponents managed to get an early goal from the second half.

“We tried to push the boys, and we got an equaliser from a set play. But we could have scored more goals, but we were not clinical in the final third.”
