TTM refute claims of player’s strike ahead of Nedbank Cup clash

Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) coach Lucky Nelukau has rubbished suggestions that the players have gone on strike amid financial struggles.

An Informant has told FARPost that TTM only had 11 players at training this week. This is ahead of their Nedbank Cup qualification match against All-Stars on Friday.

It is alleged that some players have downed their tools in protest of the monies owed to them. This has sparked fears that the club might not have enough players to honour their fixture on Friday.

But speaking to FARPost on Thursday, club Coach Lucky Nelukau refuted the claims and said some people would do anything to tarnish the club’s name.

TROUBLES AGAIN AT TTM?

“There is nothing like that. Why must they strike?” asked Nelukau.

“All the 20 players selected are available for the match. Everybody is ready, and I don’t know anything about those rumours. You will never stop people from talking; people will talk.

“All the players are available, and we don’t have any problems in the team. But the players are happy,” he said.

FOCUSED ON THE BIGGER PICTURE

“It’s like that in life (people have vendettas); people can hate you without even knowing you. So people have hatred towards TTM, so we can not entertain them. The only thing that we can entertain is the team doing well.”

This is not the first time that claims of unpaid salaries or players’ strikes surfaced at the Limpopo club. Club owner Masala Mulaudzi also told SABC Radio Station Phala Phala FM that anyone interested in taking over the club to come forward and take over.

Mulaudzi admitted that his time running a football club might be up. The club is banned from signing any player following a FIFA ruling due to the money owed to former goalkeeper Edmore Sibanda.
