Two arrivals imminent at Downs

Mamelodi Sundowns continue to bolster their squad ahead of the new season with two imminent arrivals.

The club is closing in on Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil with national team goalkeeper Ronwen Williams also close to joining them.

The North African is a left-footed centre-back who spent the last six months at Raja Casablanca on loan from his parent club SCC Mohammedia.

Since losing Ricardo Nascimento to Royal AM, the Brazilians have sometimes resorted to playing Devine Lunga as a left centre-back. The club’s co-coach Manqoba Mngqithi hinted they were searching for a replacement for Nascimento.

The DStv Premiership champions have already signed Sipho Mbule from SuperSport United, with Abubeker Nasir arriving from Ethiopia recently to start life at Chloorkop.

He joined the club in January but was sent back on loan to Coffee SC for the remainder of the season.

According to SABC Sport, Bafana Bafana skipper Williams is the subject of talks between Downs and the SuperSport hierarchy to make his much-anticipated move to Chloorkop before the start of the new campaign in August.
