Why ex-Chiefs DDC player Omega Mdaka didn’t sign with AmaZulu FC

AmaZulu FC have explained why they couldn’t acquire the services of the former Kaizer Chiefs DDC player Omega Mdaka.

The defender was training with Usuthu’s first team in November last year following his departure from Amakhosi.

When Pablo Franco Martin was asked about his take on the player then, he said he had been impressed with what he had witnessed in the Chiefs academy product.

However, he then told the journalists that Mdaka was being assessed to potentially be with their reserve team.

Mdaka was shown the exit door at Naturena along with Puso Dithejane who’s now with TS Galaxy.

This was after they reportedly refused to be the ball boys in the Carling Knockout Cup match against AmaZulu in October last year.

And Chiefs demanded R1.5 million fees for each player from the potential suitors in order to clear them.

As previously reported by FARPost, Galaxy had an agreement with Soweto giants over Dithejane’s compensation to be paid in instalments for two years.

Meanwhile, according to Martin, Chiefs and the Durban-based side couldn’t reach a consensus in the negotiations for the transfer of Mdaka.

PABLO FRANCO MARTIN SAYS CHIEFS AND AMAZULU COULDN’T FIND EACH OTHER IN NEGOTIATIONS FOR MDAKA’S TRANSFER

“This is normal, he was training with us for a week, I think he was a good player and very interesting for the club,” said Martin during the club’s press conference on Wednesday.

“I’m not going to say [he was good] for the first team but for the future of the club, sure 100%.

“But from there, what I heard is that they were some problems in the negotiations between the clubs. There was like a release clause from Chiefs, it was impossible to finalise the deal.

“This is the only thing I heard of but that was long time ago.”
