Venda Football Academy suspend a senior official

Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy [VFA] have suspended a senior official, FARPost has learnt.

The suspension comes after VFA lost 3-1 to Baroka in a league game, the Limpopo derby, on Saturday, 18 February 2023, at the Global Stadium.

VENDA FOOTBALL ACADEMY SUSPEND SIMO DLADLA

According to sources close to this publication, VFA have suspended their head coach Simo Dladla following a string of poor results in the second-tier league.

Dladla joined the Vhembe-based side in October last year. He took over the coaching reigns from newly appointed Mamelodi Sundowns set-piece coach, Michael Loftman.

Loftman had left his position as the club’s head coach when Dladla was appointed.

Dladla was previously at DStv Premiership side Swallows as an assistant coach to Brandon Truter in 2021 before joining VFA.

The highly experienced mentor in the South African second-tier also had fruitful spells with Real Kings and Richards Bay.

As things stand, VFA are placed 13th with 18 points from 18 outings on the log standings.

With all being said, VFA were convinced that his progressive positional football would help the side. Unfortunately, Dladla has failed to turn around their fortunes.

It goes without saying that VFA have had challenges from the start to the 2022/23 season, as result have not been forthcoming.

Now, VFA have won just five games and suffered six defeats and drawn seven in seven games in the process in the second-tier.

Despite roping in some new faces in the January transfer window to help improve the club’s situation, nothing has changed thus far.

VFA signed the likes of Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali on loan from Marumo Gallants, Mphakamiseni Nene, and Athini Jodwana from Swallows, and also Sbonelo Ngubane arch-rivals Baroka.

The club did not stop there as they also brought in the left winger Brandon Mokgope and Matlakala from Bahlabane ba Ntwa. And also beefed up with the squad with a youngster Bongolwethu Siyasi from Mamelodi Sundowns.
