VFA bolster technical staff with addition of Macbeth Sibaya
Venda Football Academy (VFA) have bolstered their technical team with the addition of Macbeth Sibaya.
As it was previously reported by FARPost, the retired Bafana Bafana midfielder, Sibaya, joins VFA with the recommendation of Simo Dladla.
Sibaya started working for the Limpopo Motsepe Foundation Championship side at the beginning of this month.
Just recently, VFA also roped in former Black Leopards coach Joel Masutha. The latter and Sibaya will serve as assists to Simo Dladla, who has remained head coach of the club.
There were reports that the club roped in Masutha to take over the coach or technical director role.
But it seems the club is sticking with Dladla and the two, Masutha and Sibaya, as assistant coaches. This is not the first time Dladla worked with Masutha and Macbeth Sibaya.
At the beginning of the current Premier Soccer League (PSL) season, Sibaya and Dladla were together at KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) side Uthongathi.
However, despite the club’s promising start to the campaign, the pair were shown the exit door.
Dladla also worked with Masutha at the now defunct Royal Eagles in 2019.
VFA TROUBLED POSITION
The coaches immediate responsibility will be to take the club away from the relegation zone. There is a lot of player movement expected to take place at the club in the next few days.
VFA have a poor goal-scoring record this season, netting just four goals in 12 games. This is four goals less than the eight they scored in their opening 12 matches in their debut season.
They also have one of the worst defensive records so far, with 15 goals conceded. Only Black Leopards have conceded more with 16 goals.
VFA’s first league match when they return from the 2022 Qatar FIFA World Cup break will be against Vhembe rivals Black Leopards.
