What Arthur Zwane expects from new Kaizer Chiefs striker Christian Saile

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has explained what he expects from the new signing striker Christian Saile Basomboli as the season have reached its halfway mark.

This comes after the arrival of the Congolese forward was announced last Thursday, 19 January.

The player penned a three-and-a-half deal with the Soweto giants.

The Glamour Boys coach, Zwane, said that he decided to bring in the 22-year-old goalscorer as he needed another striker to solve the club’s scoring problems.

ARTHUR ZWANE EXPECTS Christian BASOMBOLI TO HIT THE GROUND RUNNING

Speaking in his post-Mamelodi Sundowns press conference, Zwane told the media that he expect his new recruit to “hit the ground running” as soon as he is available to play.

“We expect Christian to come in and hit the ground running,” said Zwane.

“But, on the other hand, we don’t want to put him under pressure.

“There are many other players who can take that responsibility [of scoring goals].”

‘10111’, as he is popularly known within football circles continued: “That’s why I’m saying it’s about hitting the target.

“It’s not that we don’t get to the final third. I was going to be very worried if we weren’t creating chances.”

ARTHUR ZWANE LEFT TO RUE MISSED CHANCES

Zwane was left to rue missed chances after his side were beaten 1-0 by Mamelodi Sundowns in a DStv Premiership clash on Saturday, 21 January at FNB Stadium.

“In the second half how many times did we get into the final third or even close, like six metres, where you would think the payer should just poke the ball, but we didn’t do that,” he added.

“We need a bit of composure moving forward to our next games.”

Amakhosi’s next assignment will be against Royal AM on Sunday, 29 January away from home.

The kick-off is set for 17:30.
