What Pitso Mosimane told his children about Man City’s Haaland
Former Al Ahly and Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane has revealed what he has told two of his children, who are Manchester City supporters, about the lethal frontman Erling Haaland.
The three-time CAF Champions League winning coach had said to his children that he had estimated that Haaland will at least score 33 goals this season, but given the freakish scoring rate at the moment, Mosimane is thinking otherwise.
This comes after the Norwegian goal poacher scored twice as City opened their Champions League campaign by crashing a dismal Sevilla side with a 4-0 scoreline.
The talented forward became the fourth player to score on his Champions League debut for at least three different clubs, after Fernando Morientes (four clubs), Javier Saviola and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
This was the 22-year-old’s ninth goal in five games in the Citizens’ colour this season.
Mosimane asked his followers what they have seen so far, what do they think his [Haaland] goal average per game will be? Without any major injuries.
FOLLOWERS RESPOND POSITIVELY TO MOSIMANE’s QUESTION…
One of Mosimane’s fans tweeted: “I think he is capable of scoring 50+ goals in all competitions if he is injury free.
Another said: “I can see him finishing the season with 40 Coach… Most of the Premier League players are going off to the World Cup in November, and he’ll have a 6-week break.
The other follower added: “He will hit more than 50 if he stays injury free. This is a goal machine. His positioning is excellent.”
Haaland joined the Premier League defending champions from Borussia Dortmund, where he scored 86 goals in 89 appearances across all competitions and managed to win the German Cup and the Bundesliga Player of the Season award in the 2020/21 campaign.
