Why Brandon Petersen doesn’t mind staying longer at Chiefs

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Brandon Petersen has opened up about his desire to be part of the club for as long as they want him.

Peterson is on his second season at Kaizer Chiefs since joining from now defunct Bidvest Wits. Petersen spent most of his career at Ajax Cape Town [now Cape Town Spurs].

He has been the preferred choice in goals for the club recently with veteran keeper Itumeleng Khune and Bruce Bvuma playing the supporting act.

BRANDON PETERSEN LOVING LIFE AT KAIZER CHIEFS

With his contract coming to an end in June 2024, the 28-year-old says he appreciates the treatment at the club since he joined.

“Kaizer Chiefs is one of the biggest clubs in Africa. Who wouldn’t want to be here? I always said that from here I want to go to Europe,” he told journalists.

“I want to go overseas when I get the opportunity. As long as they want me here I will stay here. I don’t have a problem with it.

“Because I like it here, they treat you well here. The facility, everything is world class  and everything that a professional player wants. So as long as they want me here I will stay here.”

ON THE UNITY AMONGST THE CLUBS’ GOALKEEPERS

Just like his teammate Bruce Bvuma who alluded that there is harmony and support amongst the goalkeepers at the club, Peterson has also shared the same sentiments.

“No, it’s good. We have healthy competition, it’s been like that ever since I have been here. I think that has helped us a lot because we have helped each other grow.

“When you see one lacking you try and lift them up and try to help them improve because at the end of the day whoever the coach picks it’s important for us to support one another because your chance might come and you would want the support,” he said.

“So the support has been great and like you were saying with others on the field, it’s been good.”
