Why Cristiano Ronaldo signing by Al Nassr will inspire the nation 

Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr has described the signing of football icon Cristiano Ronaldo as a move that will inspire the nation and generations.

Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Al Nassr on a two-and-a-half-year contract. The club unveiled the 37-year-old on Friday. 

The Portugal captain parted ways with Manchester United before the Qatar World Cup after an interview with British broadcaster Piers. During the Interview, Ronaldo said he felt betrayed by the club. He also said he did not respect the current manager, Erik ten Hag.

“This is a signing that will not only inspire our club to achieve even greater success. But inspire our league, our nation and future generations, boys and girls, to be the best version of themselves,” the club said in a tweet. 

Meanwhile, Ronaldo said he was looking up to the new challenge after achieving a lot in Europe. 

“I am fortunate that I have won everything I set out to win in European football and feel now that this is the right moment to share my experience in Asia,” he said.

“I am looking forward to joining my new teammates and, together with them, help the club to achieve success.” 

The deal is reportedly worth around 200 million euros, although the club has yet to confirm officially. 

Al Nassr have won nine Saudi Pro Premier League titles in their history. They are one of the most successful clubs in that country, with 27 trophies. 

In his career so far, Ronaldo has won over 34 trophies. This includes, amongst others, seven league titles and five UEFA Champions Leagues. 

He holds the Champions League records for most appearances (183), goals (140), and assists (42). He has also played over 1 100 professional career matches with 800 goals for club and country.
