Why Marumo Gallants won’t sign anyone this transfer window
DStv Premiership side Marumo Gallants has indicated they will not be making any additions at least until the end of the season.
The transfer window period has officially opened across the world and a lot of player movement will be taking place. This also includes Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs in South Africa.
Despite still not being safe in the DStv Premiership standings, head coach Dan Malesela insists there is no player in the market worth signing.
NO NEW PLAYERS FOR GALLANTS THIS TRANSFER WINDOW
“I don’t have anybody quality available. I just don’t want to sign for the sake of it,” Malesela told the media.
“You need to sign people that you don’t have. There is no one available, there is no one of quality available.
“If there is quality, we will sign, you see, this time of the year, it’s not easy to find players. Particularly if you are a club like us and you don’t have any budget.
“We won’t sign easily because we are looking at people, who are saying my contract has ended and if you are of quality we will sign. But we don’t have those players.”
Gallants lost quality players such as Phillip Ndlondlo, Thabo Mnyamane and Miguel Timm at the beginning of the season.
The club is also set to loan out defender Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali and striker Maboke Matlakala to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Venda Football Academy.
MARUMO RENEGOTIATING WITH PLAYERS
Malesela has also confirmed that the majority of the players’ contracts are coming to an end in June. But the club will start renegotiating with them.
“We are going to be discussing a number of players,” he revealed.
“There is quite a lot, we have about 20 that are at the end of their contract at the end of the season so we will have discussions with the players before they decide to go elsewhere.”
