Winless Arrows seeking redemption against Gallants
Winless Lamontiville Golden Arrows will be seeking redemption when they face Marumo Gallants in their third game of the season.
Under the newly appointed co-coaching duo of Vusi Vilakazi and Mabhuti Khenyeza, they are yet to record positive results and fans are starting to get worried about the indifferent star.
Abafana Bes’thende are currently sitting at the basement of the DStv Premiership log with two losses against Richards Bay FC and Sekhukhune United.
The poor start has prompted the club’s followers to question whether the two men at the helm have what it takes to be trusted with leading the Durban outfit for 2022/23 season.
Kanu, as Vilakazi is affectionately known, said the team needed to work on their finishing, which is something he believes won’t be sorted overnight as he also admitted that they also didn’t start the game well.
“Obviously, we tried our best, we wanted to win our game, but it wasn’t meant to be. We didn’t start the match very well, but in the second half we managed at least to bounce back.
“In the end, we lost concentration and allowed them to score. We created chances, but we couldn’t convert and which is something we need to work on but can’t do overnight,” Vilakazi said.
Now with two games without a win, Vilakazi is aware that against Marumo Gallants, they must get maximum points. He believes a positive result against the Limpopo side will give them a boost to collect more three points.
He urged his players to work as a unit and put the club first than themselves. “I think decision making in our players needs to be addressed. The element of selfishness must be addressed. We must remind our players to put the team first than their surnames at the back. We will soldier on and must redeem ourselves against Gallants. Once we get those three points, we can then re-start our season.”
