Zondo relishing Royal AM coaching job
Newly appointed Royal AM mentor Khabo Zondo confidently says he is up for the challenge to take the team to greater heights and help achieve their goals.
The focus for Zondo and Thwihli Thwahla ahead of the new season is on the CAF Confederation Cup after former coach John Maduka guided them to a third-place finish.
“We will try to play good football and hopefully get the results. I am up for the challenge; it’s more demanding being in the tournaments that prepare these boys to compete in the elite leagues than being in the PSL,” Zondo told SNLWA.
“The methods that I use are aligned to modern football. I have to look at what the club wants, and I need to enhance what the club already has.”
“I am happy with the squad. There are things we want to work on to compete in Africa, but we have learnt from the teams that have competed. I am not surprised that they (Royal AM) ended where they did. They have brilliant players.”
The former Golden Arrows coach further revealed his satisfaction with the club’s new players. The KZN outfit acquired the services of Samir Nurkovic, Andre De Jong, Kethukuthula Ndlovu and Ruzaigh Gamildien.
“I appreciate that the club spoke to me about the players they signed before they signed them. To be honest, we had about 6/7 players that we looked at, and the ones we signed are the ones I was happy with,” Zondo concluded.
