Northern Cape ABC Motsepe League outfit Zoo Movement has sold its status ahead of the 2022/23 season.
This comes after Jacksa Sethuntsha successfully reached an amicable agreement to purchase Zoo’s ABC League status.
The side completed the last term in third place in Stream B table of the provincial league with 21 points, 13 points adrift from stream leaders Real Madrid who went on to be crowned the league’s overall champions and represented Northern Cape at the national playoffs.
The club will now be known as Jacksa Spears FC (JSFC) and will play their home games in Jan Kempdorp.
One of the lower division coaches and Peace United owner Paen Nkhwashu, the man who discovered Victor Letsoalo, once said, “running a club is not like a bed full of roses and a jar full of honey”, sharing his ups and downs, highs and lows in the amateur league with FARPost earlier this year.
Nkhwashu meant that running a football club in the top-flight, second-tier or lower divisions is no child’s play.
He believes it can make a club owner or manager flee the scene (sell status) as they are faced with many challenges and don’t get protection from the mother body (SAFA).
With clubs being exploited by bad match-fixing and other teams not complying with the rules and regulations of the league, club owners are left to bear the brunt.
However, JSFC hopes to qualify for the South African football third-tier national playoffs and gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
