Ndwandwe in no rush to pen new Arrows deal amid Soweto giants interest

Golden Arrows midfielder Velemseni Ndwandwe is in no rush to pen a reported new deal amid interest from Soweto giants.

Ndwandwe is one of the long-serving members of Abafana Bes’thende in the current squad. Coming from the club’s youth structures, he cut his professional teeth in 2017.

He has gone on to make over 130 appearances for the Durban-based side, scoring 13 goals and turning the provider on ten occasions.

The 28-year-old has had the worst luck with injuries lately but recently returned to training. He has yet to kick the ball for Arrows in 2024.

He was last in action when they were handed a 2-0 defeat at home by TS Galaxy in the DStv Premiership match in December and has played 17 games across all competitions.

Ndwandwe’s contract will run out at the end of the season. This website understands Arrows have tabled an improved offer for a man who hails from Mpangeni.

The KZN outfit is wary of seeing Ndwandwe walk away, especially for nothing. They are hoping he agrees to fresh terms put to him.

VELEMSENI NDWANDWE COVETED BY ORLANDO PIRATES

Ndwandwe is coveted by Orlando Pirates and they have been sniffing on him for quite some time now.

Having entered his final six months of the contract, he is allowed to sign a pre-contract with any club of his choice.

With the futures of the likes of Fortune Makaringe and Thabang Monare remaining uncertain, he could be beheld as a potential replacement for possible departures.

The duo’s contracts are expected to end in June and it remains to be seen whether the club keeps them.

Other players who’ll see their contracts come to an end at Pirates are Richard Ofori, Kermit Erasmus and Siyabonga Mpontshane.

Tshegofatso Mabasa and Makhehlene Makhaula are said to have been rewarded with contract renewal.
