AmaZulu announce technical team restructuring

The DStv Premiership side AmaZulu FC have announced the technical team restructuring following the poor run under the leadership of Romain Folz.

The 32-year-old coach has been redeployed to the Technical Director role in which he is set to advise the club’s chairman Sandile Zungu on their vision for 2032.

Meanwhile, the assistant coach Ayanda Dlamini will take over as the interim head coach of the club.

AMAZULU ANNOUNCE TECHNICAL TEAM RESTRUCTURING

“AmaZulu President, Sandile Zungu has announced changes to the club’s head coach role with assistant coach Ayanda Dlamini appointed interim head coach, while Romain Folz has been redeployed to the role of technical director, advising the president on the technical aspects of AmaZulu’s Vision 2032,” the club said in the statement.

“The President explained the changes begin with immediate effect until the end of the season,” the statement added.

Explaining the decision, Zungu said it was vivid that things weren’t going as planned. He says they understand that football is a result-driven game.

SANDILE ZUNGU EXPLAINS THE DECISION

“The game is result driven and with six matches to go occupying 12th position, it is clear the performance is not fitting of a club like AmaZulu Football Club,” he told the club’s website.

Meanwhile, the club has given Dlamini a mandate to pull out all the stops for the remaining 18 points.

“The decision we have taken is to appoint Ayanda Dlamini as caretaker Coach until the end of the season. His mandate is to fight for the remaining 18 points that are on offer,” he continued.

“Dlamini has the huge task to prepare the team for the upcoming match against Cape Town City this weekend.”

Further, Zungu went on to add that they expect Folz to distance himself from Dlamini’s running of the team.

“With Folz, there are many aspects that we want to continue with from him. I have retained him as a technical director, primarily to advise the President on the technical aspects of Vision 2032 until the end of the season.

“He will be expected not to interfere with the day-to-day running of the team. We thank him for his contribution to the team,” he added Zungu.

AmaZulu are currently 12th on the log standings after amassing 28 points in 24 games. And they are next on action with Cape Town City on Sunday, 09 April at Cape Town Stadium.
