AmaZulu boss vows not to interfere with Folz’s job
AmaZulu president Sandile Zungu vows not to interfere with coach Romain Folz’s job, insisting that the club’s new coach has the freedom to do his work.
Folz was given the AmaZulu head coach until the end of the season after the departure of Brandon Truter.
Zungu has assured that his love for Usuthu and eagerness to see the club succeed doesn’t mean he will tell Folz what to do.
There has been several reported cases of coaches in South African football not being given the freedom to do their jobs, with club bosses said to be interfering with the work of the technical team.
ZUNGU’S PROMISE
“We want to win trophies as a club; we do not want to tell coaches how to play and whom to select,” Zungu told the media.
“We have players that we have signed that are capable of competing against any team.
“Only the coaches will decide, and we do not interfere with anyone’s job. We did not do that to Ayanda Dlamini when we arrived; we did not do it to coach Benni McCarthy and Brandon Truter.
“I will not be starting now, even though I want new players to play, but the most important thing this season is to win games and trophies.
“I will not be interfering, and I do not want anyone doing that with his job because I do not want the coach to be affected in his mission,” added Zungu.
Zungu says he knows that Folz left his previous in the DStv Premiership Marumo Gallants as a result of the club owners telling the coach how to run the show.
“I know that Romain Folz is that it was reported that he left Marumo Gallants because of interference, and here, we do not do that,” he reiterated.
“He is at home and will decide on everything with his coaching staff.”
Folz is set to be on the bench when Usuthu face Orlando Pirates on Friday night at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
