After a massive clearout last season, DStv Premiership side AmaZulu has confirmed that they released yet another midfielder.
AmaZulu released 15 players at the end of the 2021/22 season.
These include Neil Boshoff, Xola Mlambo, Luvuyo Memela, Philani Zulu, Limbikani Mzava, Tsepo Masilela and Kgotso Moleko.
They also cut Abraham Majok, Siphelele Mthembu, Andre de Jong and Augustine Mulenga.
Midfielder Siyethemba Sithebe and Tapelo Xoki left Usuthu to join Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates respectively.
The departures, also coincided with the arrival of Brandon Truter who was appointed as head coach at that time.
This season, the Durban based side signed ten new players to reinforce Romain Folz’s squad.
The new recruits were headlined by George Maluleka and Gabadinho Mhango
Thendo Mukumela, Veluyeke Zulu, Riaan Hanamub, Dumisani Zuma, Ethan Brooks, Larry Bwalya, Augustine Kwem and Msindisi Ndlovu complete the list.
Last month, they confirmed the signing of Mamelodi Sundowns youth product Mswati Mavuso, as a direct replacement of Makhehleni Makhaula.
Mavuso joined Junior Dion, Guily Manziba and Jody February who are also on loan from Mamelodi Sundowns.
USUTHU CONFIRM THE DEPARTURE OF BUTHOLEZWE NCUBE
However, the club has confirmed that they also parted ways with Zimbabwean midfielder Butholezwe Ncube.
Amazulu communications manager Brilliant Mkhathini confirmed Ncube’s exit.
“Ncube was released earlier this year,” Mkhathin2i confirmed to FARPost.
The 30-year-old’s absence at the Durban-based side has been conspicuous. Ncube joined Amazulu in July 2016 from the now defunct Zimbabwean club Tsholotsho FC.
According to transfermarkt, Ncube made 77 appearances during his stay at AmaZpulu where he scored three goals.
Meanwhile, the club is yet to enjoy a lasting purple patch under Folz who took over the KZN outfit in October.
Under Folz, the club played 15 games where they won three, drew nine and lost three. They are 11th on the log standings.
On Sunday, they will hope to turn the tide when they collide with a troubled Chippa United at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium at 15:30.
