Another fist fight rocks the Marumo Gallants camp
Veteran midfielder Joseph Molangoane is expected to return to training at Marumo Gallants on Wednesday afternoon after two weeks out on suspension.
Molangoane was suspended by the club after being involved in a physical fight with midfielder Katlego Otladisa.
The fight took place during training a day before Marumo’s DStv Premiership match against Kaizer Chiefs at Royal Bafokeng Stadium, which took place on Sunday, 11 September.
WHY THEY WERE FIGHTING
It is alleged that the players were fighting over who should take a corner kick in a practice match before fists started flying around.
The pair had to be separated by their teammates.
The incident led to Molangoane being chased away from the camp and subsequently suspended by the club until he appears before a DC.
The 34-year-old Molangoane has not been at training or attended any of the club activities since the incident.
FARPost has gathered that the DC was scheduled for this week.
Molangoane has struggled for game time at Marumo this season and has only featured three times in the league.
Interestingly, when the fist fight happened, the club was in the news over their court battle against the Polokwane Municipality.
The Municipality dragged them to court after they decided to take their games against Kaizer Chiefs to the Royal Bafokeng Stadium.
Marumo and Polokwane Municipality have a three-year agreement to host all of the team’s 15 PSL matches at Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The municipality did not take kindly when the club took their crowd-puller clash against Kaizer Chiefs to the North West.
However, the club won the case in court and hosted the match in Rustenburg.
This is not the first time the club is rocked with physical fights within their camp.
Former striker Rhulani Manzini was released by the club after being found guilty of ‘misconduct’ following a heated training ground bust-up with former defender Alfred Ndengane.
Ndengane had to be taken to hospital for the injuries sustained.
