Four weeks ago, another KwaZulu-Natal side Richards Bay were mourning the passing of one of their players Siphamandla Mtolo, who also died after collapsing.

Mtolo met his untimely death at the age of 29. He was reported to have died during the club’s morning training session.

Also, a fortnight ago Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards experienced something of this nature as striker Tiklas Thutlwa collapsed when they were playing a league game against Casric Stars.

But the player [Tiklas Thutlwa] has recovered well and he is back with Lidoda Duvha squad.

Maluleka joined Romain Folz’s side in July 2022 from Mamelodi Sundowns, where he spent two campaigns.

HOW GEORGE MALULEKA HAS FEARED AT AMAZULU

The veteran midfield maestro has played 24 games across all competitions since joining AmaZulu.

In the process, from those 24 matches, he has managed to weigh in with five assists.

The game between Usuthu and Maswaiswai ended in a 1-0 scoreline in favour of Swallows. And this was a good result for the Soweto giants as they are slowly moving from the relegation Zone.

Currently, The Dube Birds are placed 13th on the log standings with 27 points after 24 outings.

The chances of Swallows surviving the chop have increased as they are seven points clear from the relegation-threatened side, Marumo Gallants.

Meanwhile, AmaZulu sit 10th on the table with 28 points after 24 games.

AMAZULU’S NEXT ASSIGNMENT

Usuthu’s next assignment will be against Cape Town City away from home on Sunday, 9 April 2023.

The kick-off for the match is scheduled for 17:30.
