Arrows coach Vilakazi mum on Lunga ahead of Sundowns clash

Golden Arrows co-coach Vusi Vilakazi would not be drawn on whether Divine Lunga will feature against his parent club, Mamelodi Sundowns, on Saturday evening (20H00).

Lunga joined Arrows on loan from Sundowns at the beginning of the season, and it remains unclear whether he will play when Abafana Besithende take on the Tshwane giants in a DStv Premiership encounter at TUKS Stadium.

Arrows coach Vilakazi was thin on detail regarding the Lunga issue with several clubs in the past, including SuperSport United agreeing that Sundowns players at their disposal won’t play against their parent club.

WILL LUNGA PLAY AGAINST SUNDOWNS?

However, in Lunga’s case, Arrows were reluctant to comment with Vilakazi saying he doesn’t know the details of the arrangement the club has with Sundowns.

“I do not know the status of Divine Lunga, the chairlady knows, and we are just preparing the game with him in our minds,” said Vilakazi.

“I cannot say anything because there’s nothing I know, we will see, but if he (Lunga) is not allowed to play, we will use another player; for now, I know nothing.

“It depends; as I said, I do not know the arrangements between both clubs, but if I pay a player, I will decide what happens to him,” he added.

VILAKAZI ON DOWNS

Meanwhile, Arrows are slowly progressing under the guidance of two coaches Vilakazi and Mabuti Khenyeza.

The co-coaches had a poor start; in their first four league games of the season they lost two and drew two. However, in their last two clashes against AmaZulu and Chippa United, they have managed to get maximum points.

Vilakazi is optimistic that Arrows can pull off a surprise and beat Sundowns if his troops approach the game with the right mindset.

“Our win against Chippa United needed a morale boost ahead of our game against Mamelodi Sundowns,” he said.

“We believe that we can upset them, others have beaten them, and if we go with right attitude, we can do well against them.”

The last time Arrows played Sundowns they lost by 6-0. But Vilakazi did not want to dwell on that as the team’s focus is to get positive results.

“It does not play in my mind, that 6-0 does not really stress me. We cannot dwell on the past results because we also did well against them.

“We are going there with a cheerful outlook and want to win, which is possible,” concluded Vilakazi.
