Arthur Zwane aims stinging jibe at Junior Khanye
…as he hits back at the former Chiefs winger's criticism
Former Kaizer Chiefs dribbling wizard Junior Khanye has been ultra-critical of Amakhosi’s displays under coach Arthur Zwane.
And fully cognisant that criticism is part and parcel of his job as Chiefs’ coach, Zwane says he expects it from all corners.
Responding to the criticism aimed at him as Chiefs continue to blow hot and cold, Zwane touched on Khanye’s remarks.
Zwane has yet to fully convince the club’s fans and pundits that he is the right man for the job.
The Soweto giants haven’t looked the part in the 2022/23 season. They missed out on the MTN8 title and are out of the DStv Premiership race. They trail runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns by 22 points with eight games to go.
Khanye and some fans of Amakhosi have gone as far as calling for Zwane to be shown the exit door in recent weeks due to the unconvincing style of play and inconsistent results.
In his latest prediction, the former Chiefs winger, Khanye, has boldly said Zwane won’t win the Nedbank Cup.
The 37-year-old has argued that Chiefs do not have a playing identity or structure under Zwane and lack quality players to compete with teams such as Sundowns.
He also finds fault in Zwane’s team selection as Khanye has been heard saying: ‘lengwenya uArthur ayikho mnandi‘, loosely translated as ‘Arthur is not good enough’.

Zwane, tasked with turning things around at Chiefs, has since responded to Khanye’s remarks.
“Critics are part of the game; that is his opinion. I respect his opinion as a former player,” said Zwane.
“And by the way, who am I to go down to the level of Junior Khanye? You understand what I’m saying? So this is football, and I respect everyone.
“We respect each other, so that’s his opinion, and I love it. For the fact that he’s saying what he thinks, but people are not the same,” added Zwane.
The Chiefs coach has one more chance to prove his critics wrong and prevent the club from ending their eighth campaign without a trophy.
That’s in the Nedbank Cup, where on Monday, 13 March, they were drawn to meet Royal AM in the quarterfinals.
