Arthur Zwane’s demand that Chiefs failed to meet against Richards Bay

Kaizer Chiefs coach Arthur Zwane has pointed out a demand he placed on his charges when Richards Bay were a man down.

Chiefs once again lacked a killer instinct to finish off the DStv Premiership match against a 10-man side. The Natal Rich Boyz suffered a blow as early as 18 minutes into the match as goalkeeper Salim Magoola was sent off for handling the ball outside the 18-area box.

This was the sixth league match this season in which Amakhosi faced a team that was one man down. Once again, they still couldn’t win convincingly.

The other matches were against Marumo Gallants, Stellenbosch FC, Golden Arrows, TS Galaxy and Orlando Pirates.

Defender Siyabonga Ngezana scored the match’s only goal in the 10th minute to hand the Soweto giants back-to-back wins.

ARTHUR ZWANE’S DEMAND TO CHIEFS AT HALF-TIME

Zwane admits that his team lacks a killer zeal.

“They got a red card. Then we took the foot off the pedal immediately. We could have capitalised on that. Even at half time, I told them [players] this is our chance to score three, four, five goals in one game. When was the last time three, four, five goals,” Zwane told SuperSport TV.

“It was a worrying factor because anything could have happened from a corner kick or a counterattack. So we needed to kill the game off, and we created about two-three clearcut chances.

“We kept pushing the boys to get the killer ball, we didn’t get it, but we did create chances. We could have done better in this one game. We could’ve scored more goals.”

With the narrow win, the Glamour Boys remained fourth on the log table. They are at par with rivals Pirates with 34 points respectively from 22 matches, only separated by goal difference.
