Augusto Palacios on why he’s confident Lyle Foster will succeed at Burnley

Lyle Foster’s development coach Augusto Palacios has revealed why he believes the striker will have a successful spell with the Skybet Championship side Burnley FC.

The Bafana Bafana international completed his dream move from Belgian outfit K.V.C Westelo earlier this week, signing a four-and-a-half-year contract after an impressive stint in Belgium.

The 22-year-old had scored eight goals and provided three assists in 21 league matches so far this season in the Belgian Pro League.

WHY LYLE FOSTER WILL BE SUCCESSFUL AT BURNLEY

“What’s important was the development at his younger age. I always tell many people that South Africa has got many talents. The only problem is the poor development we have,” Palacios told FARPost.

“Respect is key, he has the potential, and he has played in different European leagues at the highest level. I’m proud and happy for him.

“I think one important thing is scoring goals. He’s scoring, and he creates. The height and the structure of his body will make it easy for him. He likes to fight for every single ball. He has the ability to play at this level.

HOW FOSTER CAN HELP BAFANA BAFANA

Palacios further believes Foster can help Bafana Bafana grind results. The national team has two crucial games in March against Liberia as they will be aiming to book a ticket for the 2024 Africa Cup of Nations to be hosted in Cameroon.

“He’s scoring goals, and he’s now more mature. England is on another level. He will help Bafana Bafana because the coach asks for players who play at a high level.

“I think the way he’s improving in the technical aspect will make him do well. He has speed, and he can take defenders one by one,” Palacios added.

Foster may be handed his debut by manager Vincent Kompany on Saturday when they face Ipswich Town away from home in the FA Cup.
