‘They played into our trap’: Brandon Truter on Marumo Gallants

Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter has revealed how his side outsmarted Marumo Gallants on Tuesday evening in the DStv Premiership.

Babina Noko registered their first victory under Truter, who was only in charge of the team for the second time.

His first game on New Year’s Eve last week against his former club AmaZulu ended in a nill-all draw

“It was about us scoring, our aim was always to get them on the counter, and it worked. Two beautiful goals, Victor Letsoalo’s one as well was stunning. They played into our trap,” Truter told the club’s media department.

“I’m just happy we could kick off the new year with a win, and I hope we kick on from here as well.”

Truter further revealed Marumo Gallants’ strengths under coach Dan Malesela.

“Derbies should be like that. In a month’s time, we’ll have another one. I think it will be the same. With Gallants and Dan Malesela, we knew they were going to dominate the ball.

“We can look at Marumo’s precious match against SuperSport [United] they dominated possession.”

The former AmaZulu coach went on to single out a septuplet for praise following their great performances.

“It was a massive surf from the boys, especially [Tlotlo] Leepile, [Nyiko] Mobbie and my two centre-backs [Daniel Cardoso and Edwin Gyimah] as well.

“I’m not very surprised but happy with the substitutes that came in. They contributed tremendously Given Mashikinya, Keoikantse Mosiatlhaga and Sammy Seabi,” Truter added.

The victory lifted the Polokwane outfit out of the relegation zone to 12th in the log standings. They have accumulated 13 points from 14 matches.
